Sue Connor has been a practicing clinical psychologist since 1990 offering individuals and families sustainable solutions for improved mental health and quality of life.
 
An advocate of use of mindful meditation practices in promoting health and wellness, Dr.Connor believes that  "Recovery may be a lifelong challenge, but the opportunity to begin again presents itself to us every day. After falling in love with the deserts and mountains of Utah, Dr.Connor re-located her private practice from Washington, DC to Salt Lake City in 2000.  She is active in the community promoting awareness about treatment opportunities for acute and post traumatic stress disorders, chronic illness/ pain management,  addictions and disordered eating, and mood disorders.

Dr.Connor is a member of the Medical Staff at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute where she  contributes to the training of medical and psychology students as an adjunct faculty member for the Department of Psychiatry with special interest in the use of mindfulness approaches to the treatment of disordered eating and trauma recovery. Dr. Connor treats patients of all ages in UNI's acute care setting teaching self care skills,  symptom reduction strategies, and comprehensive relapse prevention.

At the University of Utah Pain Research Center, Dr. Connor teaches advanced self care strategies and relaxation skills to individuals with chronic pain associated with fibromyalgia as part of a National Institute of Health study on behavioral, mindful, and physical interventions for pain management.

Dr.Connor is currently on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals - Utah Chapter, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of disordered eating and the training of eating disorder specialists.

Dr. Connor received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Duquesne University in 1986. Her post doctoral training was completed at Dominion Hospital, Falls Church, VA, as Director of Admissions, and later, as leader of the Eating Disorder Team. She received speciality training in treatment of dissociative and post traumatic stress disorders under the supervision of Christine Courtois, Ph.D. at The Center for Post Traumatic Disorders Recovery in Washington, DC.

 

 A dog lover, film festival fan, African drummer, feminist therapist, and advocate for health and wellness initiatives, Sue continues to find the deserts and mountains of Utah enhancing to her mindful awareness practice everyday.
